I read ALL the time, but believe it or not, I have not read the following 5 fabulous series! I need your help deciding which series I should start first. Here are the choices:
Black Dagger Brotherhood Series
Argeneau Series
Dark Series
Midnight Breed Series
Dark Hunter Series
(I have read Fantasy Lover, though I think Night Pleasures is considered the true "first" book.)
I have a copy of each of these books in my TBR pile, so which one should I move to the top and why? What is your vote?
Thanks for your help!

I recently started the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series and it's really great!!!
ReplyDeleteHard of me to say, but I guess the BDB since I like book 3
ReplyDeleteThere are r series up there that I never miss! So let me do this (and I haven't read the LS series she is on my TBR)!
ReplyDelete1) SK: This is a mix of all supes. It is funny and moving. The first few books (1-5) you can read in any order really. Some of them are parallel.
2) LA: LOVE HER! I would say that while not a light PNR it is less hard core than the BDB series. Which gives it a slight edge in my book.
3) JRW: BDB Series: It is excellent and a good read. I think you will find a lot of PNR readers have read her.
4) CF: I *heart* the Carpathian series but it was started a long time ago and she is about to reissue Dark Prince with all the stuff left out. It is written more like a romance than a PNR because well that is how PNR was written back then. It is very good but I think might be to wordy for some :)
In other words, I would recommend them all (except LS and only because I haven't read the books-they are on my kindle though-hmmmm maybe I should read them soon)!
So many good series' you have up there! I haven't read the BDB yet, but own it and keep hearing AMAZING things about it! I HAVE read both Sherrilyn Kenyon's and Christine Feehan's books and I LOVED EVERY ONE OF THEM. So I guess you know where I stand on suggestions! LOL
ReplyDeleteI had a hard time with the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series, but I'm in the minority. I say go with the Sherrilyn Kenyon books. They read really fast. I love them all!!
ReplyDeleteMy fav is the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the other series but I love the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series, but I've been wanting to read the dark hunter series as well.
ReplyDeleteBlack Dagger Brotherhood Series is AMAZING!! A Win Win!!! Argeneau Series is also great!!!
ReplyDeleteI say the BDB series too. I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the Midnight Breed series so can't tell.
ReplyDeleteI've only read 1 book from Argeneau Series which happens to be A Quick Bite. Of the books you have in your list, I guess I like this one best.
I like the BDB for the running story on John Matthew and Dark-Hunter for its mesh of Greek mythology and vampire lore. My favorites are the later books in the series.
The one I liked least is the Dark series. Too many alpha males for my taste. :-)
BDB and Lynsay Sands are two of my absolute favorites so I say one of them. :)
ReplyDeleteI loved J.R Ward's and Sherrilyn Kenyon's series so if you read those you won't be disappointed. I just started Lynsay Sands's series I am four books in and enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you asked. Though I must admit that the only one I have read is J.R. Ward, I never, ever thought PNR would appeal to me. However, I used to have a 90 minute commute to work, and even on XM radio the DJs get very redundant. So I was listening to XM Book Radio and got hooked on "Lover Avenged," a BDB book. Since I missed parts of it I bought the book, then another, and another. LOVE them!
ReplyDeleteI hope to feature them soon on my lit blog http://madameperryssalon.blogspot.com
I loved the BDB series! But I think some people have problems with her from Bk 4 to 6. Depends on your mileage, I guess. For me and my blogmate, though, we love the series.
ReplyDeleteSherrilyn Kenyon is on my TBR list! The first of her books that my blogmate has read was her latest--the anthology In Other Worlds--and she couldn't praise SK enough! By the way, Silver's review of this book would be posted on Tuesday, so come take a look so you'd know exactly what Silver's talking about.
I'm afraid I have nothing to say of the others, since I haven't read them yet. Though fans of LA are also full of praises for her, enough so that I'll be picking up her first book in the Breed of Midnight series.

The Romance Reviews
Most definitely BDB!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Black Dagger Brotherhood, Dark-Hunter, Midnight Breed and the Argeneau Series are all some of my favorite. Each one is different in their own way so I guess it depends on what kind of mood you're in. Like all series there are going to be some books you like more than others.
ReplyDeleteIf you want something darker and series I'd say go with BDB or Midnight Breed. If you want something funny and light I say go with the Argeneau and if you want a bit of both and feel like investing in a long series (almost 20 books) then I say go with the Dark-Hunter series. Hope that helps :-)

THE BDB!!!! YOU MUST READ THE BLACK DAGGER BROTHERHOOD FIRST!!!!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy Sherilyn Kenyon's books and the Dark Hunter series is my favorite. Ms Kenyon's books would be a great place to start!
ReplyDeleteBonnie
Argeneau Series!
ReplyDeleteI've read all the series you list. I'd probably recommend Lara Adrian's the most. Maybe because she hasn't written so many that she's run out of things to say. I liked the first 3-4 of most of the series, but after that they got boring. BDB got more bizarre and unlikeable than the rest, though I really enjoyed the first book.
ReplyDeleteThe Argeneau series is fluff (But fluff can be good.)
Sherrilyn Kenyon ! books are great! the other series are good also but there predictable
ReplyDeleteBlack Dagger Brotherhood!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the input! It looks like Black Dagger Brotherhood is getting the most votes, and Dark Hunter is coming in second. Eventually I will read them all, but I'll probably start with JRW and SK!
ReplyDeleteThey are all great. you will have trouble putting them down. With Sherrilyn Kenyon's series, Fantasy Lover is the first.
ReplyDeleteKiss Of Midnight and Dark Lover are so awesome so hard to pick between those two but I think you should read Kiss Of Midnight and then Dark Lover.
ReplyDeleteI've read the first book of every one of these series and the only one that absolutely grabbed and hooked me is the BDB. I did also continue on with the Midnight Breeds, but if I were going to choose between those two, I'd pick the BDB.
ReplyDeleteAs for the others, CF is just not my taste at all - her guys are just too over the top and I don't like her style. LS is cute - good if you want a light, easy read. I like SK quite a bit. The only reason I didn't keep going with hers after I read Night Pleasures was that I figured out that I like UF more than PNR but I'm sure I'll read at least a few of the other books in that series at some point.
Hopefully I'm not too much the odd man out here, but I REALLY think you should go with the Dark-Hunter series :D !!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou will LUV LUV LUV it lol

AAA! They're all sooooo good...
ReplyDeleteBDB is excellent. I reccomend it to everyone.
Feehan's Dark series is pretty long, and some of them tend to repeat themes, but the good ones are REALLY Good, and the characters are pretty well established.
Lindsay Sand's series is very humorous and light-hearted. I really enjoy the concept of 'vampires' in her universe, and the Argeneaus are all excellent characters.
Sherrilyon Kenyon loves writing godly politics and her storylines are so convoluted with the books that it really turns me away from reading her stuff because it takes too much effort to try to decipher the chain of events.
And unfortunately, I know nothing about Laura Adrian. So if you start that series, that'd be awesome simply because then I could read your reviews on how the books were!
I've read all of the series but Midnight Breed series by Laura Adrian. It's a hard choice for me to say which is my favorite but I would either start with Feehan or Kenyon and then i would read J.R. Ward and last but not least I would read Lynsay Sands books.
ReplyDeleteI've only read the Black Dagger Brotherhood series but I love it!
ReplyDeleteI have read the first book in The Midnight Breed and BDB. They are a bit similiar to each other I think. But since they are the only ones on your list that I actually have read, i must say them. ( And I can't pick between them, too hard).
ReplyDeleteBlack Dagger Brotherhood!!! It is absolutely fantastic.
ReplyDeleteGranted the first isn't omg awesome but the next too are butterflies in your stomach amazing!!!
If you overlook this first suggestion...midnight breeds is pretty good too lol
