Review: GUILTY PLEASURES by Kitty Thomas

Vivian Delaney leads a life of privilege, but behind closed doors she feels isolated and trapped in a gilded cage. Unable to achieve sexual pleasure with her husband, she finds herself in the capable hands of Anton, a massage therapist intent on awakening her to her full sexual potential. By any means necessary.

As their secret meetings progress, she falls farther down a rabbit hole where the line between rape and illicit affair grows increasingly blurred. Anton will accept nothing short of her complete surrender as he molds and shapes her to be sold to the highest bidder.

Book Blurb:
One hundred grand to babysit bad boy Logan “Phoenix” Taylor on a paradise island—seriously, how bad could he be?

Frankly, it didn’t matter. Not when it would make my dreams of going to nursing school possible. I wasn’t even expected to talk to him, just hang out in a luxurious villa on a private beach and study. Simple, right?

But I hadn’t counted on Logan being so deliciously bad that he was oh so good. And when the temperature cranked to boiling point, he knew just how to satisfy the deepest, darkest part of my soul and give my body exactly what it needed. Amongst the sand and waves, we transported each other to an exquisite world of pleasure where only we existed, only we mattered.

But the heady mix of emotions and lust couldn’t keep things from spiraling out of control back in reality, where I had to keep the truth that I’d been hired to entertain him a secret at all costs…even if it shattered my delicate heart. Even if it cost my destiny.
Now, I know I'm not the only one who goes weak in the knees over hockey players!!  Today is release day for Lily Harlem's Hired.  Hop on over to The Forbidden Bookshelf to chat with Lily, find out how the story of Brooke and Logan came about, and read an excerpt of Hired that will melt the ice under Logan's skates! *winks*

Review: CRACKLIN' ROSIE by Lissa Matthews

Food is Rosie’s life, and life is good. She loves it, makes it, serves it in her diner, writes about it in her blog, and she’s happy. At least until a storm puts a rather large tree limb through her roof, and a sex-in-a-tool-belt roofer on top of her cabin...

Character Interview: Micah from A LITTLE HARMLESS LIE by Melissa Schroeder plus a GIVEAWAY!

Please help me welcome author Melissa Schroeder to the blog!  Melissa has two new releases this week, Mele Kalikimaka, Baby and A Little Harmless Lie.  She's just gotten back from Hawaii *wink* after interviewing Micah Ross, the very sexy hero of A Little Harmless Lie.  Take it away, Melissa!

*******

While my family braves the very cold air that is hitting Virginia, I jetted off to Honolulu to meet with Micah Ross, hero of A Little Harmless Lie. We decided to take in the beauty of Kuhio Beach on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon.

We garner a few glances, but I know it is the man beside me who is getting all the attention. Over six feet tall, part Native American, with hair down to his very fine ass, add in his Dom tendencies of always being in charge without even saying a word, and it is easy to understand why he does. Dressed in a red t-shirt and jean shorts, he looks completely comfortable in his choice of residence.

Mel: So, you liked Hawaii from the start. What drew you to Oahu?

Micah: Part of it was the laid back atmosphere. No one is in a great hurry really to get anywhere. Not that they are lazy, but they take the time to appreciate life. Plus, they didn’t have a BDSM club like the one Evan and I talked about opening.

Mel: You and Evan Chambers go way back?

Micah: smiles We met in Juvie. Boy had a mouth on him even then and I had to save his ass one night. After that, I spent most my time saving his ass from one person or another. He was kind of tiny back then compared to the way he looks now.

Mel: So, is this the first venture you had together?

Micah: motions towards a picnic table and we settle down, both facing the beach to enjoy the view. No. We had a club in Vegas but that didn’t work out. I came over here after a fugitive and realized this is where we needed to be.

Mel: Fugitive? Oh, that’s right, you used to be a bounty hunter.

Micah: Yep. And an Ultimate Fighter.

Mel: So, more personal, I understand you’re involved with Dee Sumners?

Micah: His smile widens. Yes, that is a good way of putting it. But, I wouldn’t go saying anything to her. She doesn’t always like talking about it.

Mel: So, she’s pretty private?

Micah: Yes. Considering she spent a lot of her life on the run, it is understandable.

Mel: so, I am assuming since you’re a Dom, she’s a sub. Micah nods. But she doesn’t seem like much of a pushover.

Micah: Laughs. No, she’s not. The personality of someone in the bedroom rarely is shown to everyone they know. A man or woman who needs to submit in the bedroom for personal reasons. Doesn’t mean they’re pushovers. And I really don’t find that kind of a woman attractive.

Mel: I’ve seen her before. Kind of tiny.

Micah: But with a big roar.

Mel: I laugh. I got that. But what can a person like Dee, who seems very confident, very sure of herself, get from submitting in the bedroom.

Micah: Different people need it for different reasons, but it boils down to trust. Allowing yourself the freedom to trust your Dom control over your pleasure. He looks at his watch. I better get going. I promised Dee we would grab a bite to eat before we opened the club tonight.

Mel: Thanks again, and say hi to Dee for me.

Meet Micah and Dee in my Samhain release,

*******

The Harmless Series:

A Little Harmless Sex: Harmless, Book 1 A Little Harmless Pleasure: Harmless, Book 2 A Little Harmless Obsession: Harmless, Book 3

A Little Harmless Lie
(Harmless Series, Book 4)

Falling for her might be easy, seducing her may be damned hard, but keeping her alive might just be deadly.

Coming from nothing, Micah Ross now has more than he knows what to do with. His Hawaii BDSM club is flourishing, and he has his pick of women. Except one. Dee Sumners is cute, sexy, feisty…and, since she’s on his payroll, off-limits. Plus, she insists she isn’t into the life. Until one heated kiss hints that his head bartender secretly hungers to be his sub.

Life on the run doesn’t allow Dee to indulge in long-term relationships. Still, Micah manages to work his way through her tough armor and under her skin. Yet even as she succumbs to his skilled seduction, her survival instinct forms a plan to leave the island she has grown to love—and the man she’s in danger of loving.

When Dee disappears, Micah’s anger turns to fear when he realizes she didn’t leave willingly. Calling on his skills as a former bounty hunter, he tracks her to the mainland only to discover she is entangled in a web of lies and deceit that not only threatens their love, but her life.
Warning: This book contains more Hawaiian settings, a Native American Dom who always thinks he’s right, a woman on the run, sexy kisses, murderous relatives, a trip to Sin City, and a seduction that is sweet and hot and everything in between. Ice water and a towel are recommended while reading.

Menage Amour

When Sophia Cantwell gets stuck working in Hawaii on Christmas, she isn't too happy. She doesn't like trying to buy land from a Hawaiian family, especially when she is convinced that her company isn't being ethical. When she is confronted at the airport by the landowner's grandsons, cousins Maleko and Jack Akaka, she doesn't expect the jolt of arousal or the instant attraction. And she doesn't expect them to insist that she stay at the family's condos.

Mal and Jack have shared women before and have thought about getting that one special woman for the two of them. Both of them are surprised that she turns out to be an uptight, corporate go-getter. But the three of them cannot ignore their attraction, and a night out in Honolulu turns into a night in bed for all of them.

But when Sophia's ex-lover and boss arrives unexpectedly, will she be able to walk away from her dreams of climbing the corporate ladder, or will she lose Mal and Jack?

"Waiting On" Wednesday: GOODNIGHT TWEETHEART by Teresa Medeiros

Goodnight Tweetheart
By Teresa Medeiros

Release Date: December 14, 2010
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Women's Fiction

Abigail Donovan has a lot of stuff she should be doing. Namely writing her next novel. A bestselling author who is still recovering from a near Pulitzer Prize win and the heady success that follows Oprah’s stamp of approval, she is stuck at Chapter Five and losing confidence daily. But when her publicist signs her up for a Twitter account, she’s intrigued. What’s all the fuss?

Taken under the wing of one of her Twitter followers, “MarkBaynard"—a quick witted, quick-typing professor on sabbatical—Abby finds it easy to put words out into the world 140 characters at a time. And once she gets a handle on tweets, retweets, direct messages, hashtags, and trends, she starts to feel unblocked in writing and in life. After all, why should she be spending hours in her apartment staring at her TweetDeck and fretting about her stalled career when Mark is out there traveling the world and living?  Or is he?

Told almost entirely in tweets and DMs, Goodnight Tweetheart is a truly modern take on a classic tale of love and loss—a Griffin and Sabine for the Twitter generation.

Okay, yes, I ordered this book yesterday from Barnes & Noble.  I had a coupon!  The story sounds fresh and original.  I read a fabulous review of this book by Sabrina @ About Happy Books.  (Click HERE to check out her review.)  I have a feeling this will be one of those "put at the top of my TBR pile" books!

Review: LOVE WANDER LUST by T. Harrison

Description from Smashwords: Joaquin has gaps in his memory...or maybe huge, gaping, black holes would be a better description for the number of moments he can't account for in a day. Is it simply a symptom of his excessive drinking or could it be something more?

Brief Plot Summary: Joaquin is a young man living in New York City.  He wakes up one morning to find himself in bed with a woman he doesn't remember meeting.  It shocks him further when she divulges that they have slept together dozens of times.  He soon discovers that she is not the only woman he has been having sex with during these blackouts.  At first he believes these odd occurrences are the result of drinking binges, but an encounter with a beautiful woman named Noor shows him there is far more going on beneath the surface.

Joaquin has been haunted for years by the memory of his first love, a woman he was involved with as a teenager named Lisette.  He is certain his obsession with Lisette has created a darker, demon-like half to his personality, one that takes over during the times he can not remember.  With Noor's strength and support and the secrets revealed in his journals, Joaquin faces the demons of his past to prevent the one inside from destroying him.

My Thoughts:  LoveWanderLust is a twisted tale of obsessive, unhealthy love and the toll it can take on an individual's soul years later.  The book also shows us how experiencing the right love, pure and unconditional, can be the catalyst a person needs to redeem himself.  I like how the author presented the story in Joaquin's first person point of view.  It has been a very long time since reading a book written from a male character's first person POV, so this was a nice change of pace for me.  The story itself was gripping and somewhat unsettling as Joaquin's other half took over.  I was always wondering what would happen next.  The character development for Joaquin and Noor was good.  The author describes their painful pasts in a way that the reader can sense why fate has brought them together at this point in their lives.  My only complaint is that the story seemed to conclude abruptly with a new character added at the end.  The reader is left to come to his or her own conclusions about Joaquin.  I would recommend this book if you are a fan of darker erotic thrillers.  LoveWanderLust is also available on Kindle.
