Arctic Winds was a sweet short read. The story was 62 pages long so there isn’t much I can say without giving away too much of the story. Samantha Walker is an arctic fox shifter who has been moving around on her own for years. While looking for another place to settle down, she stumbles onto a wolf-shifter town in Colorado. Hungry and too sick to hunt for herself she enters the town’s cafĂ© and meets Jason Callahan, the Alpha – Premiere of the pack. They are instantly attracted to each other. But Samantha is unsure of the match and a long-term future with him because she is just a fox and he is the Premiere of his wolf pack.
The heroine had a strong independent streak but also had a lot of insecurities as a result of being abandoned by her family/skulk. Jason was a typical Alpha who was very bossy towards her but was very protective as well. It was love at first sight and the relationship moved along very quickly. The conflict in the story was more about Samantha’s insecurities and not believing she was worthy of more than a quick fling. Jason is sensitive to this and tries not to push her too hard but he is also afraid that if he gives her too long to think she might run away from him. This was a nice romantic boy meets girl story. I give Arctic Winds 3 out of 5 stars.
