Guest Post by Mary Abshire and International eBook Giveaway

What's your favorite book or series?

Have you ever been asked the question? I can't tell you how many times people ask me. It seems many Goodreads followers use that question. For me, the answer is not an easy one. I can't narrow down my favorite to one. It's just not possible. Sorry.

I love to read paranormal romance and urban fantasy. I read a few other genres, but those two are my favorite. At least I can narrow that field down. As for books or a series… I've read so many that I enjoyed. Each book or series has a special quality that I love. Kim Harrison's series is awesome. I love the quirky comments, the characters, and the emotional impact. The Riley Jenson series by Keri Arthur is another one I enjoy immensely. Half-wolf half-vamp investigator with a twin brother. The stories are great and involve other creatures. Then there's J. Frost's series with Cat and Bones. Great combo! These are just a few. I could go on with more.

My point being each series holds elements that are unique and make it great. I love the fantasy world created, the characters, and the story in each series. Each is worthy of being up there in the favorite category, therefore making it impossible for me to select just one as a favorite. Just my honest opinion.

I'm curious… Can you honestly say there is one book or series you like above all others? If you do, that's great and I applaud you. Can you share how you select that one favorite?

Giveaway: winner gets to select which book in the series they want to read. Ebook only, no print copy.

CLAIMING THE EVIL DEAD
The Soul Catcher, Book One

Half-demon Jessie Garrett is searching for an evil vampire that's been preying upon children. She wants to claim the rogue vamp's soul and send it to hell. To find the dead man walking she must partner with another bloodsucker, Drake, even though she doesn't trust him. While Jessie works with Drake, she learns not all vampires are killers and discovers the cold-blooded vamp is a temptation too difficult to resist.
After the fiend abducts another child and Jessie has a near fatal experience with vampires, she turns to Jeremy, a demon she bumped into at a club, and makes a deal with him for his help. Drake disapproves, and Jessie soon finds herself wedged between two volatile creatures. When the chance comes to save the child's life and claim the evil vamp's soul, she must decide whom she can trust—a vampire who cools her feverish desires, or a demon hell-bent on seducing her.

CATCHING AN EVIL TAIL
The Soul Catcher, Book Two

Half-demon Jessie Garrett wants to live a normal life among her friends and keep her soul catching ability a secret, but supernatural creatures keep popping up in her world. Adding to her struggles, her vampire lover remains out of the country, and when he offers no valuable explanation as to why he hasn't returned, she wonders if she should move on without him.
As if Jessie doesn't have enough worries on her mind, the demon yearning to seduce her shows up at her home. She longs to liberate herself from the debt she owes him, and when he asks for her help, she jumps at the chance to make a new deal with him—one that will guarantee her freedom. The only catch? She has to send the soul of a werewolf to hell.
Love, trust, and loyalty are on the line. Torn between her feelings for her vampire boyfriend, a hot Alpha wolf, and a demon vowing to protect her, Jessie must figure out her heart's true desires.

FIGHTING EVIL
The Soul Catcher, Book Three

Half-demon Jessie Garrett's battles seem endless. While Jeremy, the demon out to win her heart, teaches her how to fight, Jessie's relationship with her vampire lover, Drake, reaches a breaking point. Adding to her struggles, she must defend her life against a group of vampires who consider her a threat to their existence. Held captive on a remote island with both Drake and Jeremy protecting her, she is tested in ways she's never imagined. Jessie fights back; only her actions do more harm than good. The group offers her a choice, but no matter what she decides, her life will change forever.

LOVE CONQUERS ALL EVIL
The Soul Catcher, Book Four

Welcome to arctic Alaska, free from vampires and home to humans, demons, and werewolves.

After months of moving and hiding from the VETOV, Drake and Jessie settle into a small Alaskan town. They soon discover a serial killer is on the loose and it's a demon stealing good souls. As Jessie mingles with locals from the demon community and investigates the murders, she bumps into a werewolf she had hoped she would never see again. More trouble arises and Jessie reaches out to Alan, the Alpha she met in Arizona.

Together, Drake and Alan seek to eliminate the threat against Jessie, but removing the werewolves may come with a steep price for the Alpha.

In a matter of a few days, Jessie battles for survival, and her own soul, while maintaining a feverish love for Drake. Demons and werewolves won't stop this half-demon soul catcher from sending evil souls to hell, or spending eternity with her noble vampire.

  1. I really can't say which book or series I like best, there are a couple of series I read over and over. It's also hard to explain why they appeal to me so much. Usually the characters are likeable and don't have quirks that annoy me (I HATE books were the heroine obsesses over name brand clothes and shoes, I can not relate), has plenty of action, some romance and CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. If it's a series, the character can't be making the same decisions and mistakes over and over again (that's you, Janet Evanovich).

  2. I have to say that is not just one series that is my favorite. I have many favorites, but if I had to choose one it would be Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake series. It is the one I re-read the most, plus there is 20 books in the series, with more to come out, and has the hottest, sexiest men. With a very close second with J Frost's Night Huntress series(Cat & Bones)That is the other one I re-read the most. I love to read and when I have nothing else to read or if either of these authors is putting out a new book, I will start re-reading.
Mary is a new author for me and am always looking for new books to check out. I would love to win and read any of these books, but would prefer the first of the series. I like to start from the beginning. I would hate to feel like I missed something. Thanks for the giveaway and the chance to win.

  3. Well I have 2 books that I by far can say they are my favorite "all-time" books: Pride and Prejudice and The Stand. Though if you ask me about series it could go the gamete! I LOVE series--you get to visit your favorite characters over and over and over again :)

  4. There's no way I could choose a favorite book or series, or even author. There are so many that I love and they are so unique. Depending on what mood I am in, I might want something light, funny like Kerrelyn Sparks, Lynsay Sands, or Katie MacAlister. Or something a little more intense like Larissa Ione, Gena Showalter, etc. Or I may want something fun and sexy like Eve Langlais or more intense and sexy like Cherise Sinclair. It all just depends on my mood at any given time.

  8. I cannot say there is one series or book I love above all others. There are many series I love and will read over and over. What I look for are characters and world building that that draws me in allowing me to see the world in my mind. I like strong memorable characters. I do not like whining or wish-washy protagonists. Thank you for the fun today and for the lovely giveaway opportunity:)

  10. Hi
I can't say that I have ONE favorite series, but I've read series from JR Ward (BDB series), Lara Adrian (Midnight breed), Jeanienne Frost (Night Huntress), Kerrelyn Sparks (Love at stake), Lynsay Sands (Argenau vampires), Charlaine Harris (Sookie Stackhouse), Alexandra Ivy (Guardians of eternity) and a few more but I haven't read all the books in them.
It is very difficult to pick just one, because there are great series and great stand alone books out there.
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  11. We agree, it's almost impossible to pick a favorite book. It changes like the weather, depending on your mood, probably what you ate (or drank) the night before and how the stars are aligned. But the Soul Catcher series sure sounds intriguing.

  12. Every time I discover a fantastic series I think it's the best one yet and then I am lucky enough to discover one and on it goes. My faovurite would be the recent one but one that stands out is the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. I like the heroine and loved the hero. It was dark but also promised light. The world-building also appealed to me.

  13. There just is not any way I could do ONE favorite. Not an author, not a book. Its just too hard to pick just one with so many awesome authors and books out. And honestly, I have many MANY favorites. How do I select a favorite? Well, I think favorite book series/authors of mine are picked when I get emotionally tangled up with the characters, when I actually cry or laugh out loud, when I miss dinner or give up hours of sleep to see what happens next, when I get so darn upset to see the book has ended and I'll have to wait to read what happens next. ;)

  15. Thank you for the comments. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who can't pick one favorite. There are just so many good books that are unique. I feel like I'm missing out sometimes because I only get one book read a week, and I'm behind. Sheesh. What's a girl to do? LOL :)

    Good luck everyone!

  16. This is exactly my feeling - I hate being asked that question because it really depends on my mood at the time. I have several "favorite" paranormal series that are autobuys for me, but at the same time, there are series that I read years ago that are finished now that I still love like Dorothy Dunnett's Lymond Chronicles.
