Please join Rose City Reader every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.
My book beginning this week comes from Luanne Rice's LITTLE NIGHT:
My hands are bandaged, but I'm not supposed to care that they hurt. When I was treated at the scene, the husky EMT said flatly, "He's a lot worse off than you."
My thoughts? I'm wondering what this character did to the other guy!

I had to find out more about the book. I discovered that it's probably not a novel that I'll want to read, but that doesn't stop it from having a great opening.
ReplyDeleteI have been expecting this book...won it in a contest. Now I really can't wait! Thanks for sharing...and here's

So, she's still hurting no matter how badly the other person feels. She only knows what she feels.
ReplyDeleteI'm still trying to puzzle out that title. What makes a night little?
ReplyDeleteHere's my Book Beginning.
The narrator sounds like a child, but why would you tell a child not to care? I absolutely love the cover though, how beautiful is that? Thanks for sharing!
